Our first Chardonnay picking of the 2022 season is also the most youthful tasting of the Chardonnay line-up. Veritably jumping out of the glass with a beautiful honeycomb and hard candy profile. 2022 was a long, cool vintage, allowing us to harvest essentially whenever the spirit moved, and the fruit was optimal. The upshot is layer upon layer of aromas and flavours to unpack and savour ā apple tart and lemon, hints at liquorice-bark oak. Weāve purposefully left bottles open for two, three daysā¦ even moreā¦ so see where a bit of time and ambiance takes this wine, and it only takes it to a better place. Lively now but with excellent long-term cellaring potential. If it isnāt already obvious, weāre pretty partial to this one. Drink in the next 10 minutes or lay down for a long time, your choice.
100% Lenswood Chardonnay, handpicked, wild-yeast fermentation, whole bunch pressed to barrel, some bĆ¢ttonage, 10 months in 25% new French oak, unfiltered and unfined, only 100 dozen made.
