Westward American Whiskey Ken's Artisan Sourdough 2nd Edition
Westwardâs Kenâs Artisan Sourdough 2nd Edition is a really cool twist on single malt. Westward Distilling teamed up with baker Ken Forkish and swapped in his French sourdough levain yeast instead of the usual yeast. The result is a blend of four vintages (aged roughly 2-6 years), fermented for about two weeks, that brings in more bread-like, doughy aromas up front. On the nose youâll catch rye spice, vanilla wafer, peppermint and heather honey. On the palate itâs creamy butterscotch, earthy herbs, minty spice; finish shows stone fruit, chocolate and vanilla bean. Itâs familiar Westward character, but with a bready, rustic twist you donât always get.
